PSALMS SERMON SERIES
June 11, 2023: Psalm 8
Preacher: Bob Glahn

The psalmist David offer us a celebration of the Lord’s majesty, displayed in the heavens and demonstrated through humankind. We can put ourselves in the shoes of a shepherd boy, gazing up into an unpolluted night sky and marveling at the vastness of Gods handiwork. What is humankind compared to that? Yet God has given us responsibility to steward what he has made on earth. The psalm calls us to worship and to take godly responsibility.

June 4, 2023: Psalm 2
Preacher: Rob Glahn
For the second week in our series on Psalms, Rob Glahn opened up Psalm 2, the second of the foundational psalms in the book. God is on the throne, and it is futile for the nations to rage against the rule of the Lord. We were made to follow in the paths of God's reign-- it's how we thrive! We take courage as we understand that the way of life comes by following in the paths laid out ahead of us. We also hear how the early church interpreted Psalm 2 in Acts 4: we see the fulfilment of this prophesy in Jesus, Messiah and King, who rules with grace and truth.
May 28, 2023: Psalm 1
Preacher: Mari-Anna Stålnacke
With this psalm, we introduce a series in the Psalms. As Charles Spurgeon says “Psalm 1 is the preface to the entire book of the Psalms and shows us the way of blessedness.” We are invited to picture ourselves traveling down a road, and we come to a fork in the road. Which fork do we choose? How we know which is the wise choice? Psalm 1 offers a choice of two paths. One path leads to blessings and the other to destruction. Isn’t it interesting that the book of Psalms, the prayer book of the Bible, and hymnal of Israel opens with a poem about ethics, lifestyle and decisions. Reflect with us on this Psalm, choose the right path and delight in following it!
